My Story

I've signed up for Striding for Survival to raise funds and awareness for Pancreatic Cancer Action.

20 years ago, a dear friend of mine lost her Mum to Pancreatic Cancer. Little did I know that 20 years later I would be in the same position as my Mum lost her life to the same disease.

My friend set about a mission to educate everyone she knew about pancreatic cancer. It was her education that helped me to understand the symptoms Mum was experiencing way before Mum had even a partial diagnosis.

Mum experienced many of the typical symptoms of pancreatic cancer, and like many others these initially were incorrectly diagnosed as other health conditions. Mum recieved a suspected diagnosis in July last year, and sadly left us while sleeping just 10 weeks later.

I want to follow Fi's trend and now stand as a recent recruit of the Purple Army to help educate whoever I can about Pancreatic Cancer and help to raise money for vital research into this illness.

Pancreatic Cancer Action is the only charity that specifically focuses on improving pancreatic cancer outcomes through early diagnosis.

We raise awareness of the symptoms with the public and ensure that everyone affected by pancreatic cancer is offered access to support, free information and care.

We support and fund innovative research, provide pioneering educational training resources for medical professionals while campaigning to advance healthcare.

By taking action now, together we can make a difference.
